GREEN WEEK ONLY:  The Student Store is offering 25 cents off cappuccinos if you use reusable coffee cups!  (3/9-13)

 

STUDENTS:  Please be aware that both the attendance office and the athletics office have moved.  Effective today, attendance is again located in the dean’s office so excuses and other attendance information will be available there from Mrs. Spillman.  The athletic department has returned to Pirate Hall and Mrs. Reiber will be assisting student athletics from her Pirate Hall office.  If you have questions on parking or lockers, Mrs. Ice will now be in student services and will be able to assist you with those items.

STUDENTS:  Messages to students have become a very-time consuming service.  Your help is requested in eliminating non-essential reminders and other incidental messages.  Please make notes of your own to remind you of important appointments such as dental visits, doctor appointments, after school plans, etc and be responsible for remembering them.   This will help office personnel and clerical assistants to provide other necessary services.  (3/9-20)

 

The library and computer lab are closed for a Knowledge Bowl meet from 2nd period through 6th period on TUESDAY the 10th, including Lunch.  The library and computer lab will be open for student use after school.  (Hill  3/9-10)

 

ATTENTION KEY CLUB:  We have a Key Club Meeting this Tuesday at lunch in Room 226.  Please come and sign up for the Blossom Gulch Carnival this weekend, as well as campus cleanup - remember it's Green Week!  Bring your lunch and a friend.  See you there!       (Wetzel, run 3/9-10)

 

VISIONS 2009 JURIED ART SHOW call for entries!  Three winners will receive 2-year tuition waivers from SOCC- based on your art entry NOT on grades or current year in school.  Freshmen can win as easily as Seniors! Your art can speak for itself.  Deadline for MHS prescreening of entries is Thursday,  APRIL 2, 2009.  See Mr. Jacobson in the art room #46 for details and entry form.   (Jacobson, run 3/9-31)

 

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY will meet this Thursday, March 12, at lunch in Mrs. Danielson’s room.  We will be finalizing plans to work at Blossom Gulch Family Fun Night on Friday and signing up  to judge at the Millicoma Science Fair in April.  Seniors, remember your honor cord money!!  (Danielson, 3/10-12)

Congratulations to Kara Norton who was the winner of the library contest for the month of February.

 

 Readers of Fantasy GO FOR THE GOLD – Come to the Library and enter the chance to win a jar full of golden nuggets.  One guess for each Fantasy book you read this school year.  The more you have read. . .the more chances you have to win.  Contest ends at 3:00 on March 20.  

 

REMINDER to "spring forward" an hour on your clocks when you go to bed on Saturday night.

 

 

Attention Seniors! The All-Night Party Committee is looking for artists to design the front cover of Thank You notes to be used for the donations for the party. The design should be appropriate for a Thank You card but does not need to have the words “Thank You” in the design. Artwork needs to be sent, as an attachment, to Mary Fields at mfields@eou.edu. The final size of the art needs to be no larger than 5 ½ x 4 ¼ . Selections need to be received by Monday, March 2, 2009. The top 4 entries will be used for the party’s Thank You cards with the students name on the back of the card. 3/2

 

Oregon Coast Community Action is a nonprofit network of programs that feed, house, warm and educate people. The Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA is one of our programs we sponsor.  We will be having a fundraiser selling used toys.   This will be the “Toy Tales” sale.  If you would like to help or need more information please call Becky Yaeger at 888-7436

Yahweh's Daughters is showing the video "Magdalena: released from shame", a film about women who encountered Jesus during his three years of ministry and how it changed their lives. The film will be playing Wednesday at lunch in  PH600 and continuing through out the rest of the week. Any girl is welcome to join us! There will be Pizza and goodies on Friday for the girls who have attended the showing. Join us!

STUDENTS:  Spring sports are starting soon.  If you are interested in playing baseball, softball, tennis, golf or participating in the Track team please come get your gold card.  Come to the athletic office located in the main building with the Dean’s office.  For questions about spring sports come talk to Mrs. Reiber.  GO PIRATES!2/27

 

COLLEGES

 

SOCC will be here on April 1st to do advising for classes next year.  Please see the counseling office if you are planning to attend SOCC so we can set up an advising appointment for you.

 

College bound seniors: The OSAC Scholarship application is due on Monday, March 2nd.  A transcript request sheet must be turned into Mrs. Patnode as soon as possible in order for OSAC to receive the information in time.   Go to:  www.getcollegefunds.org for the application.

 

The MHS Local Scholarship is available online on the MHS homepage.  This application is due at 3:30 on March 13th.  All college bound students and any student planning on vocational/technical training should apply - we gave out over $150,000 in scholarships to MHS seniors last year!  If you need help please see your counselor or Jennifer Bunnell in Student Services

SENIORS the Marshfield Local scholarship deadline is Friday, March 13th at 3:30pm.
