For you serious movie buffs: For the Love of Movies The Story of American Film Criticism will be showing in room 242 during lunch this 1/6,7,8, 2010 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday- it's an 80 minute documentary examining the rich saga of American movie reviewing. Staff, students, and guests are welcome to view this documentary. Bring your lunch- Documentary will begin 8 minutes after lunch bell rings Mrs. Yasana

We will be on a one hour assembly schedule Thursday, January 7. There are three main objectives for the hour assembly - 1) Seniors will receive a presentation from Caddie McKeown in the auditorium and an up-date on important timelines prior to graduation. 2) Freshmen, sophomore and junior students will remain in 1st block and use it as a study hall and/or be allowed to go to other classes for make-up assignments 3) Freshmen will report to the West Gym @ 9:50 for a class meeting after their thirty five minutes of study hall and/or seeking help from another instructor.

The freshmen, sophomores and juniors will not be able to leave 1st period block unless they have a written pass from the requesting instructor.

ATTENTION ALL BOYS & GIRLS INTERESTED IN PLAYING GOLF THIS YEAR – come to the informational meeting on Tuesday, January 12th during lunchtime in Pirate Hall Room 510. Coach Banks and Coach Wilson will be there to give information regarding tryouts, paperwork, fees, etc. Bring your lunch with you. (Wilson – 1/12)

"The defending league and state champion track and field team invites you to join us for preseason workouts under the stands at Prefontaine Track. Interested students not already participating in an interscholastic sport can get stronger and faster in a program that emphasizes plyometrics, olympic lifting, and gymnastic elements. Practices run from 3:00 to 4:30 four days a week. Ask captains Andrew Davidson, Chris Cordova, or Blake Kemp for details." Thank you, Coach McIntosh

Talent Search/Upward Bound Juniors and Seniors: Talent Search will be taking students to visit the campus of Western Oregon University on Saturday, Jan. 23rd. Please see Mr. Finney or Mr. Winberg in room 137 for permission slip. (Winberg, run through 1/22)

Talent Search Freshmen and Sophomores: Talent Search is bringing the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry to SOCC on Thursday, Jan. 28th! OMSI will bring its travelling planetarium to teach students astronomy. Space is limited, and Sophomores will get priority on the list. Come see Mr. Winberg in room 137 for permission slip. STUDENTS: If your mailing address has changed since the beginning of school, please give the correct MAILING address information to one of the secretaries in any of the MHS offices. This will help us to make sure that information about grades, policies, or calendar events reach your parents on time. (MR. MULKEY)

THE NEXT DRIVER'S EDUCATION CLASS will begin January 11th and meet Monday and Wednesday evenings through March 15th. Classes will be held at Marshfield. Additional information and registration forms are available in the main office.
