Native American Youth Association Lunch Meeting

Heart Grams will be for sale before school and at lunch time in the front hall of the

Main building until Feb. 9th. Pick up your flyer that shows 15 design choices along with an order form, then place your order any time before February 9th, cost is .50 each.

SENIOR DISTINCTIONS – seniors, nominate yourself to be recognized for your own unique distinction. This year the yearbook staff is taking an alternative approach to the traditional Senior Distinctions and every senior will have the opportunity to have their own distinction printed in the yearbook. You will nominate yourself for the distinction you think you deserve….you decide and create your own! They can be funny, serious or unusual distinctions and the purpose is to go beyond the traditional ones used in the past . You can pick up a form in the main office, complete it and return it to Mr. Peters or to the box in the main office.

Seniors,

The March 13th SAT® is one of the last opportunities they have to get their scores to colleges for admission consideration. THE DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 10. See your counselor or ETS students can see Mr. Neil Winberg and Upward Bound students can see Mr. John Finney, for registration information or Fee Waiver (Free Lunch or Reduced Lunch).

Registration fee is $45 for SAT and $20 for SAT Subject Tests, late registration fee is an additional $23.

South Coast Babe Ruth Baseball for 13 to 15 year olds batting practice begins February 9th. Tuesday the 9th and Thursday the 11th at Clyde Allen Field batting cages at 6:30 and Wednesday the 10th at Marshfield at 6:30. Registration available at the field. Please call Mike Taylor at 756-5443 or Rick Spring at 756-4669 for additional information.

4th Annual National Engineer's Week Dinner coming Wednesday, Feb 10th: Engineers and guest speakers from Oregon colleges & universities will be at the SOCC campus to talk to high school students about careers in engineering and land surveying. This is a great opportunity to learn about degrees that lead to jobs in a stable, well-paying career area. Students will have their dinner paid for, and parents are encouraged to attend. Dinner for parents will cost $14.50 each. Doors open at 4:30pm. Dinner starts at 5:30. See Mr. Winberg or Mr. Finney in room 137 for registration form.

ATTENTION SENIORS:


The Marshfield Scholarship Application is now available on the MHS home webpage. The early bird deadline is February 12th at 3:00pm. Room 123 will be open that day from 9-3 for help. All college bound or vocational/technical students should apply.

The OSAC early bird scholarship deadline is February 16th. If you want to meet this deadline you need to request a transcript to be sent by February 9th from Mrs. Patnode in the Principal's office. Talent Search & Upward Bound Juniors & Seniors: On Monday, February 15th, TRIO is taking students to Oregon State University in Corvallis to visit the campus. Learn about degrees, student programs, financial aid, and tuition costs in sessions geared to future college students. See Mr. Finney or Mr. Winberg in room 137 for permission slips. On Friday, February 26th Portland State University will be hosting their Engineering Discovery Showcase hosted by the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State. This is a great opportunity to learn about engineering in a creative, hands-on, interactive way. See the counseling office for more information. (Skinner 1/20-2/26)

SWING CLUB will begin meeting on Thursday afternoons at Sunset Middle School. If you are interested in attending you may ride bus 40 or 26 to Sunset but will need to arrange your own ride home. We hope you'll join us.
