Students

A new has started, on Monday’s at Lunchtime for students dealing with family members, who use alcohol or drugs.  The group will be a confidential and safe place to bring together a small group of students with similar problems to get information, skills and for peer support.  If you are interested in participating contact your counselor (Mr.. Ferrin, Mr.. Miles or Ms. Skinner) or Susan Chappelear at 267-1336 for further information.

The annual fall canned food drive has started – each class and the staff have boxes in the halls to put their canned food into.  Student Council will also be going door to door this weekend to get donations for the food drive.

There will a prize awarded to the class with the most cans – and if we total over 1500 can donations the whole school will receive an hour long lunch in December.  If you have any questions or want to donate please see a student council

member.

Marshfield's third annual poetry slam will happen on Wednesday, Dec. 10.  For all you poets out there, it is time to start preparing a new piece to present at the slam.  For fans of the poetry slam, it is time to make plans to attend.  The slam will be hosted by the MHS English Department in the Drama Lab and begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10.  If you're not sure what a poetry slam is you will start hearing about it in your English class and will see a video of it at this week's pep assembly featuring last year's champion poet.  Interested students can ask their English teachers for more information or see Mrs. Hampton in Room 143.
