Students -- Join us for a full day of Memorial Day activities on Saturday.  The 21st annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 11am and students are invited to help veterans’ groups with the logistics of the parade, make a float or other entry, or help publicize the afternoon ceremony at MHS by distributing flyers to parade viewers.  Following the parade, students are needed to help with set-up and hosting for the Oregon Honorable Service Medal Presentation.  The ceremony begins at 1 pm and will culminate with the presentation of the Oregon Honorable Service Medal to local veterans.  This special medal is available to any honorably discharged veteran or person currently serving in the Armed Forces who is residing in Oregon.  If the veteran is deceased, a family member/next of kin may apply on veteran’s behalf.  Check with family members and friends to determine who has served and help them receive their medal.  There will also be a dedication of a new headstone for a Civil War veteran buried in the cemetery, led by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in period dress.
