STUDENTS:  May 3--9 is Teacher/Nurse Appreciation Week.  Please let your teachers and nurse Shannon know how much you appreciate all they do for you and Marshfield High School.  (Mr. Howard, Mr. Mulkey, Mr. Bryant)

 

Attention poets and interested students:  The MHS English Department will be hosting its 2nd poetry slam of the year TONIGHT at 7 p.m. in the Drama Lab.  If you are interested in competing in the slam, now is the time to start preparing your poem.  More information about registering for the slam will be announced as the date nears.  If you have questions please ask your English teacher or see Mrs. Hampton in Room 143.  Hampton  4/23 – 5/7

 

 

Yahweh's Daughters invites MHS students to attend a FREE seminar on Creationism vs. Evolutionism by Justin Alfred. The first session is TONIGHT at 7:00, meets again Friday at 7:00 and then 9:00 on Saturday morning. Come learn what secular science classes are not allowed to teach you! The seminar is being held at BCF's Riverview Campus which is the old Coos River school. Take Coos River road about 3 miles (watch for the BCF sign), turn right on Solari Ln. We hope to see you there!

 

 

Seniors!  Please remind your parents that senior parents are busy planning the all-night party for graduation night.  They plan to meet in the Marshfield High School library at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, Thursday, May 21, and Tuesday, June 2.  All senior parents are encouraged to get involved with party preparations!  (Danielson 5/7 - 5/14)

OSU College of Pharmacy will be holding an open house on Friday, May 8th at 3:30pm.  This is an ideal opportunity for prospective students who may have an interest in a pharmacy career and/or applying to OSU's pharmacy program. (Coun., May 8)

 

SENIORS planning to attend SOCC next year should sign up in student services for the Registration Day at SOCC on May 12th.  Students will enroll in classes for the fall on this day.  LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED!!   5/4-12)

 

TAKE CARE OF OREGON project…..Saturday, May 16th, 9am to 3pm, join other students and community members working in the Marshfield Pioneer Cemetary. 

Projects will include transcribing headstones, photographing headstones, recording oral history, stabilizing or resetting vandalized headstones and general maintenance.  A light lunch will be provided and you can earn community service hours.  For additional information email cbcemetery@att.net or leave a message in Student Services. 

 

JUNIORS AND SENIORS - PROM IS MAY 16TH - TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE NEXT MONDAY, the 11th - $30.00 FOR COUPLES $20.00 FOR SINGLES.  EACH JUNIOR OR SENIOR MAY BRING ONE DATE.  IF YOUR DATE DOES NOT ATTEND MARSHFIELD YOU MUST GET A GUEST PASS FROM THE DEAN'S OFFICE.  THE PROM IS FROM 8:00PM TO 11:30PM IN THE MAIN GYM.  YOU MAY GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN STARTING AT 5PM IF YOU MAKE RESERVATIONS THROUGH MRS. HAMPTON IN ADVANCE.  IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THE TICKET PLEASE SEE THE DEAN'S OFFICE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS.

 

Senior M picture has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 21st, during Advisory.

 

REMINDER - With the heightened awareness about the swine flu, please remember to stay home when you are sick, especially when you have a fever greater than 100 degrees.  Flu symptoms may include sudden onset of illness, fever higher than 100 degrees, cough, sore throat, chills, headache, muscle aches, weakness, and vomiting.  The flu virus is easily spread through direct contact, coughing, and sneezing.  Prevention is simple.  Wash your hands.  Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.  Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth.  Stay home when you're sick or have flu symptoms.  Weybright  4/28-5/7

 

Stand for Children is offering scholarships to Outstanding Students who "Beat the Odds."  If you are a senior and have succeeded academically despite hardships such as poverty, disability, homelessness or personal tragedy check out this scholarship.  The deadline to apply is Friday, September 18, 2009.  For more information see student services or visit www.standleadershipcenter.org/bto  (Coun., June 3rd)
