The Madrala Players present

Tom Stoppard's

The Real Inspector Hound

Tom Stoppard’s one act play revels in absurdism and satirizing the popular British whodunits (Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is most obviously parodied by deliberately giving away the ending, though of course the producers of Christie's play could not publicly object without drawing even more attention to the fact.)

The plot follows two theatre critics named Moon and Birdboot who are watching a ludicrous setup of a standard country house murder mystery; by chance they become involved in the action causing a series of events that parallel the play they are watching.  It is a masterful example of metatheatre (theatre ABOUT theatre).

Attention current Freshman and Sophomores:  The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) will be given on October 13, 2010 from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM in assigned rooms on campus (to be announced).  The PSAT is the only way juniors can enter into the National Merit Scholarship contest.  The PSAT is an excellent practice for the SAT.  The SAT is one of the required college entrance tests required to apply for a 4 year college or university admissions.

The PSAT/NMSQT lets you:

• get ready for the SAT®

• enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for recognition and scholarships

• access personalized college and career planning resources in My College QuickStart™

• request information from colleges and universities

• assess your critical reading, mathematical reasoning and writing skills

• get specific suggestions on how to improve your academic skills

Mr. Ferrin needs to determine how many students will take the PSAT next October 13 for planning purposes.  Please stop by the Student Services office and sign the roster sheet (make sure you print your name legibly).  The state of Oregon pays the fee for all Sophomores who take the PSAT and most of our juniors will qualify for a fee waiver (ETS, Upward Bound students and students on Free or reduced Lunch test for free).
