SENIORS:    Chad from Jostens will be on campus until lunch Today in the main hall. Bring your order packets with you at this time.

 

In the Freshman Presidential debate, 188 students voted, The Obama/Biden ticket won with 109 votes, MCain/Palin came in 2nd with 64 votes. Nadar/Gonsalez of the Peace Party came in 3rd with 7 votes and Barr/Root of the Libertarian Party came in 5th with 5 votes and the Baldwin/Castle of the Constitutional Party came in 5th with 1 vote.

 

If you do not have a student body card/ID card you are still able to attend the games at MHS, however if you have not purchased your ASB sticker, then you will be pay $3 to attend the game.

 

Readers of SPOOKY STORIES BAG THE TREATS – Come to the Library and enter the chance to win a jar full of CANDY.  One guess for each SPOOKY book you have read this school year.  The more you have read. . .the more chances you have to win.  Contest ends at 3:15 on October 31.  

 

PICTURE RETAKES RESCHEDULED;  Picture retakes for students and staff has been changed to Wednesday, October 29th.

Come check out our new & improved school store.  The Galley has great prices and is open before school and at lunch.  New foods include Chimichanga Mondays, Taquito Tuesday and Waffle Wednesdays, (mornings only).  New Pirate Nation shirts are also available in the store and football games.  Come get your “Pirate Gear”.

 

North Bend Lanes is generously sponsoring an afternoon of bowling fun to help support the Marshfield High School Equestrian Team.  Come bowl with family and friends on Saturday, October 18th from 1:00-3:00 PM or 3:30-5:30 PM and the bowling alley will donate 50% of the proceeds to the team.  Come support the Marshfield Equestrian Team and have fun doing it! Go Pirates!!

 

See "Shrek" and help Coos County Kids!

Families and children are invited to come see "Shrek" at the Egyptian Theatre and support vulnerable children at an Oregon Coast Community Action fundraiser for CASA of Coos County. The fun begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the theatre, with free balloons, candy, face painting, magic tricks and crazy antics with the Alley Oops clown troupe!

Tickets will cost $5 and all proceeds will go to the CASA program, which helps advocate for vulnerable children in Coos County, because every child in our region needs a CASA.  Come out and enjoy a fun and entertaining movie, and help support the children in our community. National Honor Society members are reminded to turn in their signed NHS pledge to Mrs. Danielson or Mr. Walker by the end of the week. 

 

 

ATHLETES

To all Baseball Players

We are in charge of the 50/50 and Buck's Place this Friday. We need to have your parents volunteer to work the first half or second half of the game. Players not playing football need to be at the field to sell tickets before the game.

Coach Hall

 

Any boy or girl interested in swimming needs to stop by and give their name to Coach Preston in Pirate Hall 612 asap.  Practices will start Novemeber 10th.

 

Attention Bowlers…  If you are interested in bowling this year, please see Nurse Shannon in Students Services.  No previous experience is required.  You must be willing to have fun.  Practices are starting this week

COLLEGE

 

Talent Search and Upward Bound Juniors and Seniors: Sign up for the campus visit to the University of Oregon in Eugene on Thursday, October 30th. Limited space is available, so head to room 137 to sign up with Mr. Winberg as soon as possible.

 

Talent Search and Upward Bound Students: The Oregon University Systems will be providing college and financial aid information at Southwestern Oregon Community College at 6pm on Monday, October 27th. This is a great way to learn about Oregon’s public universities. Any senior hoping to earn a 4-year degree should definitely attend. See Mr. Winberg in room 137 for more information.

 

Talent Search Seniors: The last day to sign up with a fee waiver for the December 6th SAT Test is Wednesday, November 5th. Missing the December SAT Test means colleges may not have your scores in time for the admission process.

 

Talent Search Freshmen and sophomores: Sign up with Neil Winberg in room 137 if you want to attend the Roseburg College Fair on Wednesday, October 22nd.

 

Seniors and Juniors are invited to attend Roseburg High School's annual college fair on October 22.  Over 65 colleges from Washington and Oregon will be represented at the fair.  The event is a great opportunity to learn about schools like Western Oregon, Oregon State, Willamette, Gonzaga, Washington State, University of Oregon, OIT, Umpqua Community College and many others.  Students will have the opportunity to meet with college admissions reps face-to-face, ask questions about financial aid and school costs, and receive free materials and brochures from the colleges.  Marshfield is only sending one bus to the event, so sign up early as space is limited.  The bus will be leaving Marshfield at 11:00 a.m. and will return by 6:00 p.m.  If you are interested in attending, please sign up in the student services office with Mrs. Wilson.

 

University of Portland will be hosting campus visit days on November 10th and 11th.  See student services for more information.

 

Reed College will be at the Mid-Willamette College Fair at Lane Community College on Sunday, October 26th from 12:00pm-3:00pm.

 

Lewis and Clark College will be hosting an on campus event on Saturday, November 8th from 8:00am-2:00pm.  They will also be at several college fairs.  For more information see student services.

 

A chance to win $$$$$.  Students who attend the Mid-Willamette College Fair on Sunday, October 26th from 12:00pm-3:00pm at Lance Community college will have the chance to win scholarships for $500.  Over 100 colleges and universities will be attending to assist students with questions and give information.

 

Western Oregon University will be providing a Making College Happen workshop at the WOU campus on Friday, October 31, 2008.  The registration deadline is October 17th and space is limited.  See student services for more information.
